“Dream Big – Read”

Summer Reading Program May 31^st

Register for the Summer Reading Program and receive a Reading log, a Bookmark, a Pencil, and a name tag to put on the mural in the children’s playroom.

Pre-registration: Begins May 18^th and ends May 30^th on our website. Starting June 1^st, program kit may be picked up at pre-registration table.

The first 225 children will receive a book bag after they have read their first 10 books.

Registration: Starts on June 1^st or any time until the end of the program.

All books must be checked out from the library’s collection to be eligible for prizes.

Children will be able to fish for a prize once a week as long as they listen to or read at least one book.

For every 10 beginning reader books read or listened to, or every 10 chapters read you will receive a sticker to place on your name tag. You will also be eligible to place your name into a drawing for weekly prizes.

We will also have various Contests during the Summer Reading Program due each Wednesday.

Children under 12 must accompanied by an adult for all programs.

Children’s Librarian

Coffee Co. Lannom Library is seeking an energetic, creative individual to serve as Children’s Librarian.

The preferred candidate should enjoy working with young people and have strong customer service, fund raising, communication and planning skills.

This is a full time position with benefits. Some night and weekend work required.

Tennessee Electronic Library Stats for 2011

In 2010, there were 29,331,338 searches in the various TEL databases. In 2011, there were 33,862,736 searches in TEL. That’s a 15% increase!

Learning Express Library usage increased the most, with a 26% gain from last year. The Gale databases are by far the most-used part of TEL, with almost 30 million searches total (an 18% increase from last year).

Use by schools increased the most, up 34% in 2011. Academic libraries are using TEL 28% more than they did last year.

Some new ebooks for only our patrons

If you use our READS program for free audiobooks and ebooks you may have heard that we are now an Overdrive Advantage library.

This means that we are purchasing addtional titles and copies for the READS program that are only available to our patrons.

That means it pays to be a Lannom Library patron.

Be sure and sign in to the Overdrive website before searching for titles so that you will see if we have purchased additional copies of that particular Title (see image above).
